“No Air-Puff” Eye Exam

At Collins Vision Care, we use the latest in technology to enhance your overall experience. We refrain from older “air-puff” machines. Instead we use a rebound tonometer which have become increasingly popular to measure intraocular pressure (IOP).

If you are having your IOP measured with a rebound tonometer, you can expect the following:

  • The technician will clean your eye with a sterile wipe.

  • The technician will place the probe in front of your eye and you will see a green light.

  • The technician will repeat the measurement several times to get an accurate reading.

The entire process should take only a minute. Rebound tonometers are a safe and effective way to measure intraocular eye pressure. If you have any questions about rebound tonometry, be sure to ask your eye doctor.
